Seven Martinsburg North Middle eighth grade students were honored
Wednesday, April 21 for their outstanding performance on the 1999
Golden Horseshoe Test. The exam is administered annually to eighth
graders from each county to test their knowledge of West Virginia
history, geography, civics and economics.
Gov. Cecil Underwood was guest speaker at the ceremony in the
Cultural Center Theater honoring the 221 students statewide who are the
1999 winners of the Golden Horseshoe Award. The 1999 Berkeley County
Golden Horseshoe winners are: Corey Blackford, Kira Cope, Cassie Czaja,
Jonathan Degenfelder, John Hoke, Megan McDonald and Devon Pearell, all
of Martinsburg North Middle. Congratulations to these seven and their
school!
